Listened in 2006
Like Kottke's recent post, the following are my 25 most played artists for 2006 as recorded by Last.fm, the website that tracks what I'm listening to in iTunes on my computer:
- Neko Case
- Thom Yorke
- The Postal Service
- Ted Leo and The Pharmacists
- Jon Brion
- M83
- Aphex Twin
- Silver Jews
- Final Fantasy
- Brian Eno
- Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
- Sufjan Stevens
- Cat Power
- CocoRosie
- Band of Horses
- Victory At Sea
- The Stumbler's Inn
- The Magnetic Fields
- M. Ward
- Duke Ellington
- Elvis Costello
- Bloc Party
- Andrew Bird
- Joanna Newsom
- Django Reinhardt
Taking into account that neither the listening habits of my CDs on the home stereo nor my iPod in my pocket commuting to school are accounted for here (for example, Newsom would be much higher in the ranks) this is still pretty accurate. Although: who the heck is Jon Brion?

Jon Brion is a composter/musician who's done work for Aimee Mann, and infamously that Fiona Apple album that got trashed and redone. He also scored films like Magnolia, and Eternal Sunshine.

I'm pretty sure Jon Brion did the music for I heart Huckabees.

He did do the music for I Heart Huckabees. An outstanding score, too.
