Why Flickr?

flickr_logo_gamma.gif.v1.5.10.gif

As the person responsible for taking the small organization I work for in Bali into as progressive an online realm as I can take it, one of the many recommendations--and one of the few that has required any spending--is that we purchase a Flickr Pro account.

The question my boss asked:

Can you give a quick explanation as to the advantages we get from upgrading our [currently free Flickr] account?

My response:

Reasons to use Flickr

Reasons to pay $24.95/year for a Flickr Pro Account

I didn't even know there was Yahoo advertising on the free account. I've been Pro (not a Pro) since before the Yahoo/Flickr merger. Interesting but I guess it makes sense.

In my opinion, I'd never go back to a free account (and not because of the Yahoo advertising). So much more freedom with a Pro Account.

I think Pro is great, I'm trying to go pro in everything I do ;)

My one recommendation for flickr would be the ability to rearrange my photo order in the main photostream not just the sets.

great site Jeff ur giving Flickr a run for their money when it comes to site design.

BTW, for those that don't know -- you can rearrange photos on your main page, but not easily. You can go and edit the uploaded date and time of a photo to change the order it is shown.

I thought www.phanfare.com is a good solution too. keeps the hi-res but shows thumbnails. allows downloads of sets (in hi-rez), nice slideshow. comes with a manager program to allow for uploading. Ever used or seen it?
check out this account as and example mei.phanfare.com
