OK, wanted to revise and expand this entry to include albums/artists I don’t skip over in Winamp over the last few days, weeks and months (in no particular order, missing many, listed by Artist: Song/Album (and my comment on it)):
- Aesop Rock – (highest impact and most alluring, intelligent rap voice, ditto lyrics to boot)
- Squarepusher: Tomitto, My Red Hot Car (if you like Aphex Twin)
- Nathan: Stranger (A Winnipegan group and the mix of country folk rock with accordion feel is nostalgic but not sappy, good cute voice, too)
- Van der Graff Generator: Live at the Marquee (the more I listen to this prog rock album, the more I respect the power and depth of Peter Hammill. It’s really not cheesy, even the sci-fi-ish Pioneers Over C, about astronauts breaking the speed of light barrier and being trapped in formless consciousness)
- Freeze Pop: Here Comes a Special Boy (see here and here to see how happy this song makes you feel)
- Flaming Lips: Yoshima Battles the Pink Robots (Am now a Flaming Lips fan, almost a top ten pop album for me)
- Outkast: The Love Below (honest to goodness, the critics are right on this one, really a masterpiece of style, tune and concept)
- MC Paul Barman (very quick)
