{"id":284,"date":"2005-10-31T23:02:37","date_gmt":"2005-10-31T23:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/wp\/?p=284"},"modified":"2013-03-07T18:03:41","modified_gmt":"2013-03-08T02:03:41","slug":"drawing_words_a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/testa\/drawing_words_a\/","title":{"rendered":"Drawing: Words and Pictures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naturally everyone in the class did theirs the night before Monday afternoon&#8217;s deadline, which just happened to be right after the <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/jeffwerner\/57671916\/\" title=\"link to photos of said party\">debaucherous class party<\/a>.<br \/>\nI started this pen and ink drawing, using an excerpt from <em>Siddhartha<\/em> by Herman Hess as my source, around 8pm last night. By 4am my wrist and fingers were cramping. Up at 7am and almost finished at noon.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_8792_edit.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/images\/journal\/IMG_8792_edit.jpg\" width=\"540\" height=\"759\" \/><br \/>\nIt will do. It was pretty fun. Scale: approx. 16&#215;24 inches. Inspiration: Chris Ware, engineering schematics, sleep and nutrition deprivation.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"siddhartha_draft.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/images\/journal\/siddhartha_draft.jpg\" width=\"260\" height=\"366\" class=\"img-left\" style=\"margin-right: 15px;\" \/><br \/>\nAs for process, I&#8217;d thought about what text I wanted to use for a while, then did the rough draft last night.<br \/>\nI primarily drew from objects in my vicinity, which related to the Siddhartha goal of emptiness and loss of self. I&#8217;ve been thinking about how to get rid of my possessions, so I drew those. I drew things I like, things I could could get rid of. Things I want but don&#8217;t need. Things I need but can&#8217;t have. Most of the other text is stream-of-conscience.<br \/>\nAs for technique, I wanted to push my boundaries a bit and try a bit of shading in India ink, and nearly all lines are done freehand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Midterm project for Drawing and 2D Language.
