{"id":361,"date":"2007-04-12T00:28:15","date_gmt":"2007-04-12T00:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/wp\/?p=361"},"modified":"2013-03-07T17:47:41","modified_gmt":"2013-03-08T01:47:41","slug":"theo_jansen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/testa\/theo_jansen\/","title":{"rendered":"Theo Jansen Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"jansen-strandbeesten.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/jansen-strandbeesten.jpg\" width=\"540\" height=\"337\" \/><br \/>\nJansen gave a presentation recently at a tech conference and it&#8217;s the best background and summary of his work I&#8217;ve been craving to see for years:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.poptech.org\/popcasts\/PopCasts.aspx?viewcastid=25\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"jansen-video.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/jeffwerner.ca\/jansen-video.jpg\" width=\"540\" height=\"351\" \/><br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.poptech.org\/popcasts\/PopCasts.aspx?viewcastid=25<\/a><br \/>\nThe video is 30 minutes but if you have the time, current fan or not, it&#8217;s worth it to see his conceptual framework (he views the beests as full-on evolutionary life forms subject to natural selection) and his process (from cardboard to wood palette models, basically whatever material he can find).<br \/>\nI like when Jansen says, with all sincerity, that he loves those plastic tubes. Plus, the guy&#8217;s been making them for like 20 years or something, started designing them on an Atari.
